McPHERSON, KS: The 18th ranked Texas Wesleyan University Baseball team (25-7, 13-2 SAC) completed a three-game Sooner Athletic Conference sweep of Central Christian College (5-35, 3-18 SAC) with an 8-6 victory on Saturday.
The Rams have won each of their last 12 games while batting .397 as a team and outscoring their opponents 139-58 in that stretch.
Singles from Logan Bistrop and
Donnie Lopez led to a pair of runs in the third inning. The Rams exploded in the fourth inning, sending 12 men to the plate and scoring five runs on four hits and four walks. Doubles from
Jacob Barfield and
Michael Davila keyed the big inning while Tiger pitching also issued a pair of bases-loaded walks.
Kaden Brown tripled and scored on a throwing error to lead off the sixth, extending Texas Wesleyan's lead to 8-0.
Central Christian got off the mat in the bottom of the sixth. Four consecutive singles capped off by a bases-clearing double from Josh Clyden led to a 5-run frame.
The Tigers got an unearned tally in the eighth and sent the tying run to the plate in the eighth and got the tying run on base in the ninth before
Alex Davis closed the door with his seventh save of the season.
Corley Huffstickler (5-2) went six innings and allowed five runs on seven hits while striking out eight in the win. Davis worked the final 1.2, allowing a walk and a hit while striking out two.
The Rams are back in action on Tuesday, when they host Texas A&M-Texarkana. That game is scheduled for a 3:00 p.m. start at Sycamore Park.
