Rams Top U Dallas in 11 Innings

FORT WORTH, TX:  The Texas Wesleyan University Baseball team took a 5-4 win in eleven innings over the University of Dallas (5-8) at Sycamore Park on Sunday.  Freshman catcher Mark Schreiner delivered a walk-off single in the eleventh to seal the victory.
 
After Dallas tied the game in the eighth, the Rams got a two-out double from Donnie Lopez in the 11th.  Schreiner then delivered a single to center that plated pinch-runner CJ Ateek.
 
The Rams scored first in the game with an RBI double from Michael Davila in the first inning.  Dallas got a two-run double from Enrique Vigil in the second and an unearned run in the fourth to lead 3-1, but the Rams rallied in the fifth.
 
Back-to-back walks started the fifth, and the Rams batted around, scoring three runs on two hits and four walks in the inning.  Lopez tallied an RBI single and Julio Ibarra gave the Rams a 4-3 lead with a pinch-hit RBI double during the rally.
 
The Crusaders got a leadoff double from Jessup Scott and a sac fly from Seth Hanson to tie the game in the eighth.
 
Parker Robinson (2-0) entered the game in the 10th and worked two scoreless frames to earn the win.  Corley Huffstickler started the game and allowed three runs, two earned, on three hits in four innings.  Cody Thompson and Alex Davis contributed five innings of relief work, allowing just a run between them.
 
Davila (2-3) and Lopez (2-5) each had a pair of hits for the Rams.
 
The Rams now hit the road for a five-game road swing.  They will play a Sooner Athletic Conference series at No. 11 Science & Arts next weekend.  Friday's series opener is scheduled for a 5:00 p.m. start in Chickasha, OK.
 
Ramblings
 
- The Rams are 19-7 all-time against the University of Dalals.
 
- Texas Wesleyan leads the all-time series against their next opponent, USAO, 10-9.
 
- The win was the first career win for Interim Head Coach Bobby Garza.
 
- Kiki Menendez continues to hit over .400, currently batting .407 (22-54) with three HR's and 14 RBI in 16 games.
