WESTWORTH VILLAGE, Texas - Riding a stellar second round, The Texas Wesleyan University men's golf team shot the best two rounds of Tuesday to claim first and second place at the Texas Intercollegiate at Hawks Creek Gold Club.

The Rams proved today why they're deserving of being a top 3 team in the nation.
 
Rowan Lester was the star for Texas Wesleyan Gold, shooting a 71 on Tuesday after an incredible 64 in round two, finishing -12 for the tournament. Declan Kenny placed third, notching a -3. Lester, Kenny and Victor Miron were named to the all-tournament team.
 
Miron tied for fourth and saved his best round for last, a two-under 70.
 
Texas Wesleyan Blue, led by Luis Herrera (-1), Futa Yamagishi (-1) and Conner Parish (+1) gave the Rams six of the top 10 finishers. Nobody shot worse than a 73 Tuesday.
 
Tyler Junior College, Our Lady of the Lake and Jacksonville College (TX) rounded out the top five.
 
Gerardo Herrera used a 73, third-round to claim 17th overall as an individual. Also competing as individuals were Will Doctor (T-20th) and Jason Ashby (T-32nd).
 
WHAT'S NEXT
The 21st O.D. Bounds Golf Classic is right around the corner, hosted at Diamond Oaks Golf Club, slated for Monday September 24 before the men head to Lemont, Illinois to play in the Flyer's Intercollegiate hosted by Lewis University.
