Game Recap: Women's Soccer | | Cameron Irvine

Women's Soccer takes tough loss to LSU-Shreveport

SHREVEPORT, LA - Texas Wesleyan women's soccer didn't find the firepower early its been used to, and found even less late in a 3-0 loss to LSU-Shreveport.

Texas Wesleyan (5-2) was out-shot 27-8, including 14-3 in the second half. Shreveport (2-4) got goals in the 29th, 45th and 82nd minutes, the first and third from Kati-Jayde Cunningham, who assisted on the goal just after halftime.

"It was a tough day today," said Head Coach Josh Gibbs. "We just came out flat against a very well coached, very organized team. We just couldn't get anything going on either end. Credit to the girls - they worked incredibly hard on the back of a tough game Thursday. I'm glad we get to rest up - and heal up - before we start conference."

Tameir Grosvenor got up four of the Rams eight shots, but Taylor Ross - coming off a hat-trick Thursday - didn't get a single opportunity to strike. Cunningham got off nine shots - four on goal - more than the Rams were able to manage collectively. Still, Lauren Bond made six saves, playing all 90 minutes in goal.

The second half was one surge after another for Shreveport, at one point rattling off five different shots in ten minutes of non-stop action at one end of the field. Grosvenor (27th and 87th) and Reyna Ramirez (43rd) had the best opportunities to score.

The Rams completed non-conference play with a 4-1 home record, now 20-3-1 at home in their last 24 home games.
