GOODWELL, OK - Texas Wesleyan (7-4, 4-0 SAC) showed no signs of slowing down Saturday afternoon as the red-hot Rams swept Oklahoma Panhandle State (1-10, 1-4 SAC) 25-19, 25-15, 25-14.
Now 4-0 in the Sooner Athletic Conference, in the last five matches Wesleyan has allowed 20 points scored in a set just twice. Saturday was
Brittni Mohle's day.
Mohle crushed her previous career high (14 kills against Mid-America Christian on September 27, 2016 as a freshman) earning a whopping 19 kills against the Aggies plus 13 digs - her second double-double this season and the seventh time this season she's earned at least 10 digs (she only had five such games in 2017). Mohle's hitting percentage in Goodwell was .455 but it wasn't just Mohle who dominated in front of the net -
Jasmine Creek had nine kills with no attacking errors (.692 hitting percentage).
From start to finish the Lady Rams dominated, with only three ties and two lead changes. The Rams took advantage of 19 Aggie errors, not ever getting too high or too low in their cruise. It was the third set that saw Wesleyan's most dominant stretch, led by Mohle. She had four of her 19 kills early helping Wesleyan take a 7-0 lead. Mohle led another surge up 18-9 in Set 3 with three straight kills, putting the Rams up 12.
Tierra Coverson pitched in five kills,
Brenda Pargas led the distribution with 24 assists and
Brianna Sitton contributed 18 digs.
WHAT'S NEXT:
The schedule gets a little tougher from here. An improving Southwestern Christian (5-1, 2-1) will be in town Friday night at the Sid Richardson Center at 7 p.m. Saturday afternoon, it could be a battle of unbeatens in the SAC when Oklahoma City (7-1, 3-0) rides in from the Sooner State at 1 p.m. The Lady Rams will be attempting to snap a four-game losing streak to the Stars, who shared the Sooner Athletic Conference regular season title last year, losing in the first round of the NAIA National Tournament to Our Lady of the Lake University. Those Saints lost to the Rams already this season at The Sid.
