TXWES earns 16th straight win over SCU

BETHANY, OK - Texas Wesleyan Volleyball (17-7, 12-3 SAC) had no issues getting a victory to end a two-game road trip to Oklahoma Saturday afternoon, topping the Southwestern Christian Eagles (11-12, 6-9 SAC) 25-15, 25-10, 25-21.

Freshman outside hitter Arianna Alvarado extended her double-digit kills streak to four matches, leading the way with 12 kills. The Lady Rams hit .308 for the match, best since October 12 against Langston, including a .483 set (17 kills, 3 attacking errors) in the Set 2 blowout. Veronika Webb chipped in nine kills while Chastiny Brown put seven in between the lines and over the net.

The Lady Rams led all statistical categories, including service aces (6-1), blocks (4-2) and digs (62-45). Brianna Sitton captained the defense with 19 digs, the most she's had this season. Sitton has produced at least eight digs in the last three contests.

In Set 1, Texas Wesleyan blasted the Eagles with a 7-0 run to go up 21-11 led by a couple of aces from Brenda Pargas and kills from McKayla Flowers and Brown. TXWES blitzed SCU out of the gate in the second set 13-3 and then closed out the second race to 25 with another 7-0 run. Sitton's ace and an attacking error gave the Lady Rams a 2-0 advantage.

The Eagles pushed the Rams in the third set for the first time all day, scoring five straight to take a 21-19 lead. The Rams showed moxie down the stretch. Alvarado took command, getting three of her 12 kills in the final six tries and a Morgan Burns ace finally put Southwestern Christian out of their misery.
