Texas Wesleyan Women's Soccer (12-5) will compete in the Sooner Athletic Conference women's soccer tournament, which begins Saturday, Nov. 9 with quarterfinal matches on campus sites in the conference. The Lady Rams will host No. 6 Southwestern Christian (6-8-1) at Martin Field Saturday night at 7 p.m.
Science & Arts of Oklahoma secured the No. 1 seed. USAO, ranked ninth in the NAIA, nabbed the SAC regular-season crown. The Drovers (17-1) take on Central Christian at 7 p.m. Nov. 9 in Chickasha, Okla. Tenth-ranked John Brown holds the second seed in the tournament. The Golden Eagles (12-3-2) gave USAO its only setback of the season 1-0 on Oct. 5 in Chickasha, Okla.
The conference tournament champion reaches the NAIA Championships. The NAIA Championship Opening Round will be Nov. 22-23 on campus sites around the nation with the NAIA Championships happening Dec. 2-7 in Orange Beach, Ala.
KEY TO VICTORY SATURDAY: Playing the Eagles. The Lady Rams are 9-0 all-time against Southwestern Christian. Also, the Lady Rams will have to take advantages of the opportunities given. SCU is 39th in the country in goals allowed per game (3.08), not the stat a team wants a high ranking on. Texas Wesleyan needs to attack, and finish. TXWES scored five times in their first meeting. The Eagles did tie John Brown just last week. Tameir Grosvenor needs one more goal to break the single-season goals scored record. She has 29 this season, fifth in the NAIA.
