SEASON HIGHLIGHTS
December 17th, 2018 - Rams go to Cali and nearly shock the world
Texas Wesleyan took a long road trip over the holiday break to play a pair of teams in California including the No. 1 team in the nation at the time according to the NAIA Coaches' Poll - Vanguard University. The Lady Rams forced overtime, but fell 83-77. Burns led four Rams in double figures with 17. In the most recent poll, Vanguard ranks 12th with a 21-8 record.
January 12, 2019 - Broadnax looks like her old self in dominating win
After a very unfortunate injury sidelined
Bailey Broadnax her entire junior year, her senior-year comeback didn't always go as planned. But January 12 against Langston, Broadnax came off the bench and scored 12 points on 6-of-9 shooting in a season-high 24 minutes, including a signature step through the lane and finish with the left hand in the third quarter. She received a hug from Head Coach
Steve Trachier in the next timeout and received much-deserved love for her teammates, coupled with a big smile on her face. A moment in time worth cherishing.
February 7, 2019 - Defense stifles SWC
In a run of stops almost never seen, Texas Wesleyan's defense held Central Christian scoreless for 18-straight possessions, forcing nine turnovers and the Eagles to shoot 0-for-9 from the floor, with zero offensive rebounds. The Lady Rams went on a 20-0 run which proved to be the difference in the game - a 62-42 victory at home.Â
February 16, 2019 - Burns goes off
On the road in McPherson, Kansas, Burns tied the school record for most threes made in a game (7) and earned a career high 31 points in a 101-84 victory over the Tigers. It was the first 100-point game of the season for a Rams team that all season long limited opponents possessions preferring to play a lower-scoring game with defense and grit. TXWES won the fourth quarter of that game 29-9.
THE 2018-2019 CAMPAIGN
The 14 wins improved on the program's total of nine from 2018 and the four losses at home were tied for the least amount since the 2011-2012 stretch.
the team finished 12th in the country in three-point shooting percentage (34.4 percent), 12th in total steals (345), 17th in three-pointers made (230), 18th in steals per game (11.1) and 18th in total rebound defense (34.1) - a lot to be proud of.
Gleason finished as the team's leader in points, rebounds, assists and blocks and was 11th in the country making 86 shots from beyond the arc.
