INDIO, Calif. – The 5th ranked Texas Wesleyan University men's golf team powered past No. 17 Oregon Tech to win the 2019 Desert Intercollegiate hosted by Corban University at the Golf Club at Terra Lago on Monday. The Rams outpaced the Owls on the way to a two-stroke win.
The team finished the two-day tournament at 6-over par (289-293-582).
Delcan Kenny slid one spot to finish the tournament in third place.
Tyron Davidowitz shot the low round of the day, a 1-under performance that allowed him to move up to a fourth place finish.
Futa Yamagishi also climbed the ladder, vaulting 11 places on the way to a share of ninth after an even par second round.
No. 15 Victoria finished third, followed by ERAU who took the fourth spot from Corban. Corban rounded out the top 5.
The easiest hole of the tournament was number 17. It drew six eagles, 55 birdies and 73 pars. The toughest hole was number 18, which had 60 bogeys, 27 double bogeys, and 20 more scores higher than double bogey
The Rams will play in the Roadrunner Classic at The Farm Golf Course in Rocky Face, Ga. The 54-hole tournament hosted by Dalton State is set to start on Sunday, April 7.
