Defending NAIA National Champions get the best of Lady Rams

Box Score HATTIESBURG, MS - Texas Wesleyan Women's Soccer (0-2) fell to the defending NAIA National Champion William Carey Crusaders 5-0 Saturday night, after keeping the game scoreless through the first 35 minutes.

Tameir Grosvenor took five of Texas Wesleyan's scoring opportunities. Savanna Baron plus one of Grosvenor's looks ended up on target, but were saved.

Christy Zwart played the first 82 minutes with five saves before Julia Villalobos came in to get some time in the late stages. The Crusaders scored in the 35th, 59th, 62nd, 81st and 87th minutes and are 2-0 on the young season as the NAIA Coaches' Preseason No. 1.

The Lady Rams will get a much needed slice of home cookin' when Texas College comes to town Tuesday night at 6 p.m., beginning an eight-game home stand that will span 35 days and will have a chance to shake off two-straight shutouts to start 2019. TXWES scored nine goals against the Steers in each of the last two seasons.

The Steers lost their first game of the season 1-0 against Oklahoma Panhandle State, a Sooner Athletic Conference opponent for the Rams.
