Men's Soccer drops defensive tilt with SCU in OT

BETHANY, Okla. – The Texas Wesleyan Men's Soccer team (1-2-1) suffered a 1-0 overtime loss in non-conference action against SAC mate Southwestern Christian University (2-0-1).

For the second consecutive match the Rams played more than 90 minutes. The team played Texas A&M – Texarkana, which also claim the eagle as its mascot, to a 1-1 draw last week.

This time though, the SCU Eagles were able to score on a counter-attack just 30 seconds after the overtime period started. The all-time series record between the two teams is now 3-7 in favor of Southwestern Christian.

Defense abounded as both team managed six shots on goal, 4-2 in favor of SCU. Jovanni Angon led the team with three shots, two on goal.

26 fouls were called between the two teams, while a total of seven cautions were handed out, four of them were Rams.

Outside of the 4-0 loss to a solid LSU – Shreveport team, the TXWES back line has allowed just two goals in three games.

Texas Wesleyan men's soccer will come back home to face Wayland Baptist on Friday, October 23 at Martin Field. Kick-off is set for 7 p.m.
