Note: At the 4:46 mark of episode 2, it is mentioned that tomorrow's game is to be a conference game. It has been confirmed that tomorrow's game vs. Arizona Christian will not be a conference game.
GLENDALE, Ariz. – The Texas Wesleyan University football team (0-1) will travel to West for a non-conference meeting with Arizona Christian on Saturday. This is the fourth all-time meeting between the two teams.
The Rams will look to right the ship and upset a strong ACU team on the road. Look for QB
Dalton Dale to establish a better relationship with receivers like NAIA All-American
Brandon Rolfe and company.
Head coach
Joe Prud'homme on ACU, "They have a lot of resiliency and moxie…there an older team that has a lot of maturity and they don't get rattled. We can't make mistakes."
The Firestorm will celebrate homecoming, along with the first ever game played at its brand-new stadium (the team had been partnering with local schools in the area to host football games), a part of an effort to relocate the entire campus and facilities from Phoenix to Glendale.
Jabial White led the offense last time out with 54 rushing yards, while
Le'Mant Monroe and
Cole Maxwell each caught passing touchdowns from
Dalton Dale and
Avery Childs. Overall however, offense was stifled by an improved SAGU defensive unit.
Tyquandrik 'Tank' Conner leads the SAC and NAIA in sacks as he collected a pair vs. SAGU. He had eight total tackles in the contest and will look to add more against the elusive ACU quarterback, Tyler Duncan.
Duncan won SAC Player of the Week honors after accumulating 421 total yards of offense and six touchdowns in a comeback win over SAGU.
Next week, the Rams return to Farrington Field, playing host to Wayland Baptist. The game is scheduled for Saturday, November 14. Kick-off at 2 p.m.
