Women's Basketball can't complete comeback in SAC quarterfinal

OKLAHOMA CITY – The Texas Wesleyan University women's basketball team (17-11) ended its 2019-20 campaign in an 80-75 loss to Mid-America Christian University (21-10) in the SAC Tournament quarterfinal at the Gaulke Activity Center on Tuesday

Despite season highs in points and rebounds from both Jordan Brightwell and Makayla Coy, the Lady Rams were outpaced down the stretch.

Brightwell had 21 points and 13 rebounds, while Coy tallied 21 points and 17 boards.

In a game it never led, Texas Wesleyan erased a 14-point lead and got within one midway in the second quarter after a Nicole Gleason traditional 3-point play made it a 26-25 game.

Coy did the same thing with two minutes gone in the third quarter to make it 36-35

Down 11 early in the fourth quarter, the Lady Rams grinded the lead down to just three with two minutes left on a Hailee Walls triple to make 71-68.

The Evangels never relinquished to advance and take on top ranked OCU in Plainview, Texas.

Walls added a 15 in the final game of the season.

MACU outshot the TXWES from the field, 42% compared to 34%. The Lady Rams had a cold night behind the arc, going 4 of 22.

Women's Basketball finished the season tonight. For Gleason, she settles at No. 8 all-time in scoring with 1,196 points.
