FORT WORTH - The Texas Wesleyan Rams (3-1, 3-1 SAC) continued its best football season since the program's revival in 2016 Saturday as the team breezed past visiting Wayland Baptist University (2-3, 2-2 SAC) 63-7 at Farrington Field.

It was the most points the Rams have scored since their return, while their three wins are also a modern day record. Texas Wesleyan is now 3-1 overall and 3-1 in the Sooner Athletic Conference.

Also, the 54-0 halftime lead is the most points in a half for the Rams. In fact, they broke their own record after scoring 26 first-quarter points by scoring 28 in the second.

Rams quarterback
Dalton Dale threw for five touchdowns, a school record, completing 15 of his 20 pass attempts for 297 yards. He also led all rushers with 60 yards on four carries.

Dale threw a pair of touchdowns each to
Collier Ricks (20 yards, 74 yards) and Anthony Bobb (9, 58), along with one to
PJ Williams of 24 yards. Ricks led all receivers with three catches for 106 yards, while Bobb caught four for 82 and Williams hauled in four for 48. Eight different receivers caught a pass for the Rams.

Ernest Ceasar added 54 yards rushing on 10 carries for Texas Wesleyan. Clint Epperson scored two rushing touchdowns on runs on 1 and 19 yards.

Chance Carroll returned an interception 26 yards for a defensive touchdown. It was one of two pickoffs for the Rams, the other by
Jamarrion Reed returned 39 yards.

Francisco Castillo kicked field goals of 32, 22 and 34 yards.

The Rams defense was led by
Adrian Johnson with four tackles, including three for a loss.
Jose Bonilla and Damian Francis also had four each.

Johnson had 1.5 sacks, Tyquandrik Conner posted one and
Dylan Pettway had a half sack.

Just as they did the scoreboard, the Rams dominated statistics. They had 27 first downs to 13 for WBU, 535 total yards (199 rushing, 336 passing) to 188 (39 rushing, 149 passing), and were 4-for-9 (44%) on third-down conversions to 1-for-12 (8%).

The Rams travel to play Southwest Assemblies of God (3-2, 1-2) next Saturday (Oct. 9) at 2 p.m. in Waxahachie. The Lions lead the series 3-1, winning last season 33-15 in Fort Worth. In previous meetings, the Rams won 52-44 in three overtimes at home in 2019, lost 53-46 in 2018 in Waxahachie, and lost 42-7 in 2017 in Fort Worth.
