VB: Lady Rams survive Wayland

The Texas Wesleyan University Volleyball Team (20-5, 15-2 SAC) pulled out a huge win at home tonight, a five-set thriller over conference challenger Wayland Baptist University (20-8, 13-4) at the Sid Richardson Center on Friday night.
 
The Lady Rams found themselves down 1-0 but that did not deter them from fighting back and winning 3-2 in grand style. The Rams and Pioneers gave spectators a very closely contested show at 'The Sid' tonight. Fans looked on nervously, especially down the stretch.  This was a very important game for both teams. The post season is fast approaching, and every win is critical to build momentum.
 
The Lady Rams had a total of 74 kills, compared to 49 kills by the opposing team, led by Nyia Anderson (17), followed by Sydney Charlton (16), and Bailey Foy (15). Anderson and Charlton, along with Veronika Webb, posted 3 blocks each.
 
Morgan Burns tallied a whopping 57 assists, her second best effort of the season. She added 12 digs for her eighth double-double of the season. Ruby O'Brien has now earned back-to-back double-digit assist performances for the Lady Rams.
 
The Lady Rams had 99 digs in total, led by Skylar Warde with 26, a season high. Andrea Malek had 18 digs, followed by Anderson with 16. Nyia Anderson continues to be dominant for the Lady Rams as she continues to dominate in multiple statistical categories. Ruby O'Brien has now earned back-to-back double-digit assist performances in defense for the Lady Rams.
 
The Lady Rams sit at the top of the Sooner Athletic Conference with a 15-2 record. In less than 24 hours, TXWES Volleyball will play Oklahoma Panhandle State at home on Saturday, October 30, at 1Pm.
