The countdown has begun, and the 2-time NAIA national champs, led by Head Coach Brennen Shingleton (170-100, .660 in nine seasons) are gearing up for the start of the 2021-22 Men's Basketball season, on the hunt for the NAIA's Red Banner.
 
National Championship Recognition Night
The Rams open their run to a third national championship on Saturday, Oct. 30 at 6 p.m. against Arlington Baptist, a part of National Championship Recognition night at Sid Richardson Center.  The two championship teams (2006, 2017) will be recognized and honored as VIPs at the season opener.
 
The Champions Classic is back
The Rams will take on the University of the Southwest at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 12 before playing Baker University at 4 p.m. on Saturday. The Mustangs went 0-14 last season, while the Wildcats went 14-10. The Rams are 2-2 in the event since it started in the 2018-19 season.
 
SAC opener
TXWES plays five non-conference games to gear up for the Sooner Athletic Conference opener against SAGU on Thursday, Nov. 18th at 7:45 p.m. The Rams will then play newly minted SAC opponent UNT – Dallas on Saturday, Nov. 20th.
 
RRAC Throwback
The Battle of the Rams will take place on Saturday, Dec. 11 at 3:45 p.m. as the TXWES Rams host the HT Rams in a Red River Conference throwback matchup.
 
Looking for payback
Ram fans should especially plan a trip to 'The Sid' on Thursday, Jan. 27 to cheer on the team in a rematch of the 2020-21 SAC tournament opening matchup with Mid-America Christian. MACU escaped with a 70-66 win last season.
 
Postseason dates
The SAC tournament opening rounds are set for Thursday, Feb. 24 before moving to the final site in Oklahoma City for the semifinal and final games on Monday, Feb. 28 and Tuesday, Mar. 1 respectively.
 
The 84th Men's Basketball National Championship is set for March 17-22, 2022 at Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City, Mo. Opening Rounds of the tournament will take place at various host sites and are scheduled for March 11-12, 2022
 
Home - Away breakdown
The team will host 17 games at 'The Sid', while playing 12 games on the road. TXWES is 21-2 at home in the last two seasons, while going 10-9 on the road.  
 
2020-21
Last season, the Rams went 10-6 and 6-4 in conference play in the abbreviated season. The team earned an at-large bid in the NAIA national tournament for the fifth time in six seasons and made its 12th appearance all-time. The team fell to Carroll College (Mont.) 85-58 in Lewiston, Idaho. Vydall Bradford earned NAIA All-America Honorable Mention recognition, leading the team with 15.6 points per game. Vydall, along with Peyton Sallee and Sabastian Karwoski were tabbed to the SAC 
 
All-Time, the team is 1299-1062 (.550) in 83 seasons.
