MSOC blasts SCU 4-1

FORT WORTH, Texas-- The Texas Wesleyan Men's Soccer team overcame an early 1-0 deficit to defeat Southwestern Christian 4-1 in the final match of the regular season on Monday night at Martin Field.
 
TXWES defeated Central Christian College 2-0 on Saturday afternoon in McPherson, Kansas. Freshman Mathis Guffroy and junior Oscar Odriozola scored both goals for the Rams in the first half. Senior keeper Bastian Blumenberg recorded his third shutout of the season. The Rams continued their outstanding offensive play on Monday night.
 
The Rams outshot the Eagles 5 to 2 on goal. Senior keeper Bastian Blumenberg recorded one save in the match.
 
The Eagles scored early in the match as Jeremiah Vidale found the back of the net in the 5th minute of the match to give Southwestern Christian a 1-0 lead over the Rams.
 
9 minutes later TXWES evened the score at 1-1 as junior Oscar Odriozola blasted a shot into the back of the net for his 9th goal of the season.
 
TXWES junior James Kerr found the back of the net to give the Rams a 2-1 lead in the 21st minute for his 6th goal of the season- assisted by freshman Mathis Guffroy. 6 minutes later, freshman Mathis Guffroy scored his 9th goal of the season to extend the TXWES lead to 3-1. Sophomore Lazar Pavlovic recorded the assist.
 
The Rams continued their dominant offensive play as freshman Gerardo Lopez showed great pace and blasted a goal into the back of the net in the 75th minute to extend the TXWES lead to 4-1.
 
The win brings TXWES to 9-6-2 overall and 4-4-1 in league play. The Rams end the regular season on a 3 game winning streak. TXWES will compete in the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament which begins on Friday, Nov. 5.
