FORT WORTH -- The Texas Wesleyan Women's Basketball team defeated ABU 103-44 on Saturday afternoon at the Sid Richardson Center to continue their best start to a season since 1984, with first-year Head Coach
Brenita Jackson leading the way.
"Everybody contributed and that's what makes us unique - we are a team by committee," said head coach
Brenita Jackson. "Everybody is invested and bought-in to our style of play. I'm super proud of our bench scoring 78 points. I loved seeing Lindsey [Thorpe] leading all scorers with a double double. I thought our defense was solid, forcing 36 turnovers along with the 58 team rebounds we had."
The last time the Lady Rams score at least 100 points was on Feb. 16 during the 2018-19 season, defeating Central Christian 101-84. The last time the team has scored more than the 103 they put up today was back during the 2016-17 season when that beat Crowley's Ridge College 104-68.
TXWES played stifling defense as they held ABU to 18 of 60 shooting from the field (30 percent.) Strong defense from TXWES forced ABU to turn the ball over 36 times. The Lady Rams only committed 13 turnovers and outscored ABU 72 to 22 in the paint.
The Lady Rams shot 43 of 94 from the field (45 percent.) Senior
Lindsey Thorpe led the way for the Lady Rams with a double-double as she scored a game-high 20 points and snagged 15 rebounds. Freshman Maliah Lacour also had a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds.

Ariell Warren scored 16 points off the bench on 7 of 21 shooting (33 percent.) Graduate Student
Hailee Walls scored 11 points on 4 of 7 shooting from the field (57 percent.) The Lady Rams bench outscored the ABU bench 78 to 20.
The Lady Rams move to 5-1 all-time against Arlington Baptist University. The undefeated Lady Rams will take on Midwestern State University in an exhibition game on Sunday, Nov. 28 at 3 p.m. in Wichita Falls, Texas.
