FORT WORTH, Texas-- The Texas Wesleyan women's basketball team (10-1) defeated the University of Science and Arts (9-3) 73-61 on Wednesday evening at the Sid Richardson Center.
The Lady Rams shot 26 of 67 from the field (33 percent.) The Lady Rams struggled from beyond the arc as they shot 2 of 16 from the three-point line (12 percent.)
The Lady Rams continued to dominate the paint as they outrebounded the Lady Drovers 52 to 28. TXWES also played stifling defense as they forced the Lady Drovers to 22 turnovers and scored 25 points off those forced turnovers.
The Lady Rams also outscored the Lady Drovers 28 to 16 in the paint. TXWES had four players in double figures. Freshman
Zarria Carter notched a double-double with 21 points and 11 rebounds, junior
Makayla Coy also notched a double-double with 21 points and 14 rebounds, junior
Kertisa Amos scored 14 points and had 13 rebounds, and junior
Mary Nyakundi scored 14 points.
The Lady Rams broke a 7 game losing streak to the Lady Drovers and move to 9-9 all-time against the University of Science and Arts.
Tomorrow's home game against Jarvis Christian has been canceled, which meansTXWES will have the next two weeks off before their next matchup when they travel to San Antonio on Wednesday, Dec. 29 to take on the University of Mobile in a neutral site match up. .
