FORT WORTH -- The Texas Wesleyan men's basketball team (8-2, 3-1 SAC) overcame a 3 point half-time deficit to defeat Southwestern Christian University (3-4, 1-3 SAC) 68-61 on Saturday afternoon at the Sid Richardson Center to extend their win streak to 4 games.
The Rams started off slow as they only shot 1 of 7 from the three-point line (14 percent) in the first half. The Rams shot 11 of 26 (42 percent) in the first half. The Rams were outrebounded By SCU 19 to 17 in the first half.
TXWES was more efficient from the three-point line in the second half as they shot 2 of 4 beyond the arc (50 percent.) The Rams outscored the Eagles 40 to 30 in the second half. TXWES also outrebounded SCU 22 to 14 in the second half.
The Rams attacked the low post as they scored 40 points in the paint and also took advantage of turning defense into offense, scoring 15 points off turnovers.
The Rams had three players score in double figures: Senior
Vydal Bradford scored 15 points on 6 of 12 shooting from the field (50 percent,) Junior Payton Sallee scored 14 points on 4 of 10 shooting from the field (40 percent,) and Junior
Lamine Komara scored 14 points on 7 of 15 shooting from the field (47 percent.) Junior Kristan Lafayette dominated the post as he snagged 18 rebounds.
The Rams will be back home at the Sid Richardson Center on Thursday, Dec. 9 to take on Hutson Tillotson University at 6 p.m.
