Rams down Huston Tillotson, 81-71

TXWES wins battle of the Rams for fifth straight meeting between the two teams

The Texas Wesleyan men's basketball team (9-2) defeated Huston-Tillotson University (2-9) 81-71 on Thursday night at the Sid Richardson Center.
The Rams started off slow in the first half as they found themselves down 30-22 with less than five minutes left in the first half. TXWES end the half on a 12-2 run to take a 34 to 32 lead into the halftime break.
TXWES started the second half on an 8-0 run to seize control of the game. TXWES outscored Huston Tillotson 47 to 39 in the second half.
The Rams shot 29 of 59 from the field (49 percent.) TXWES also shot 16 of 19 at the free-throw line (84 percent.) TXWES also dominated the paint with 32 points down low and 37 rebounds.
The Rams had four players score in double-figures. Senior Davon Berry scored 19 points, junior Payton Sallee poured in 18 points, junior Lamine Komara scored 10 points and senior Vydal Bradford scored 15 points.

Since the first meeting between the two team in 1971, Texas Wesleyan is 27-5 all-time against Huston-Tillotson. TXWES has never lost the HTU at home, boasting a perfect 15-0 record at 'The Sid'.
The Rams move to 9-2 on the season and will take on the University of Science and Arts on Wednesday, Dec. 15 at 6 p.m. at the Sid Richardson Center.
