VB finishes as SAC Tourney Runner-Up

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. — The Texas Wesleyan Volleyball team finished as runner-up in the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament after falling 3-1 (25-18, 18-25, 18-25, 22-25) to No. 21 Oklahoma City in the title match on Saturday.
 
The Rams (18-4, 8-2 SAC) advanced to the championship match after defeating Mid-America Christian 3-0 in the quarterfinal and Wayland Baptist 3-1 in the semifinal. With the semifinal victory, TXWES earned a bid to the national tournament for the third season in a row.
 
The opening round will begin April 17 at designated campus sites with winners advancing to Sioux City, Iowa to begin the final rounds April 27-May 1.
 
Against the Stars, Bailey Foy led with 15 kills and 3 blocks. She was named to the SAC All-Tournament team after knocking down a total of 50 kills and 10 blocks during the three matches of the tournament and hit .404. She was also named the league's Attacker of the Year and Newcomer of the Year.
 
Morgan Burns recorded 39 assists in the title match and also earned a SAC All-Tournament distinction. She totaled 129 assists during the tourney and was added to the All-Conference first team list.
 
Other standout performances against OCU included Haley Harvey's season high 21 digs. Andrea Malek and Emily Brooks added 12 digs apiece. Nyia Anderson finished with 8 kills and 13 digs.
 
The national tournament qualifiers will be revealed in a selection show at 10 am CST on Monday, April 12. The show will premiere on the PlayNAIA Facebook page.
