WAXAHACHIE, Texas — The Texas Wesleyan Softball team split their double header on the road at Southwestern Assemblies of God, losing game one 3-0, but winning game two, 7-2 on Tuesday.
Mercedes Beltran had a great day at the plate, batting 4-6 between both games. The senior from San Antonio, Texas hit a double in each game and scored 2 runs in the second game. She also stole a base and hit a sacrifice bunt.
Kylie Summers was also instrumental in the Lady Rams' win. She hit a leadoff triple to give her squad momentum in the first pitches of the game. She was singled home by
Brynna Foster who would go 3-4 herself with 3 RBI while also pitching a complete game win with 8 strikeouts. Summers finished batting 2-3 with 1 RBI and 2 runs in the nightcap.
Allie Prewitt accounted for 2 hits herself of TXWES 13 hits in game two. Foster and the Lady Rams defense limited the Lions to 3 hits in the second game. They had only had 3 hits themselves in the opening loss while SAGU recorded 6 hits in the opener.
TXWES is now 14-20, 13-17 SAC while SAGU is 22-18, 14-14.
The Lady Rams will close out the regular season at their home field in Sycamore Park on Sunday, May 2 with a double header against Langston starting at 1 pm.
