The Texas Wesleyan Rams (4-1, 3-1 SAC) hit the road Saturday and faced off against the Wayland Baptist Pioneers (2-3, 2-2 SAC) in Plainview, Texas, for their fifth-ever meetup in conference play.Â
 TXWES started on defense in the first quarter and quickly got a defensive stop, allowing the offense to take the field. TXWES then score on a two-play drive capping the drive with QB Dalton Dale to WR Caleb Mckinney for a 37-yard touchdown pass giving TXWES a 7-0 lead at the start of the game.Â
Wayland tried to press forward on their next offensive drive but was unsuccessful, forcing them to punt on 4th down. On special teams, WR Alize Thomas blocked the punt on the 48-yard line, allowing S Kareem Walker to return the blocked punt for a 41-yard touchdown, extending the Rams lead to 14-0 in the first quarter.Â
Wayland made another effort to score after the blocked punt, but FS Elijah Hall came down with an interception for the defense.Â
TXWES started the next drive with a 31-yard pass from Dale to RB Ernest Ceasar from their 48-yard line. Unable to score, the Rams were forced to go for a field goal allowing K Armando Benitez to come onto the field and extend the lead to 17-0.Â
Dale was able to extend the Rams lead to 31-0 with a 32-yard touchdown pass to WRÂ Jaysen Price. Both defenses gave each other's offenses a hard time to score for the remainder of the quarter, leaving the score 31-0 at the end of the first half.Â
While the defense only allowed 16 points in the entire game, they kept the Pioneers to no points in the first half. The offense continued to dominate throughout the game, leaving the game's final score 59-16.Â
Dale finished with 261 passing yards on 11-18 and three touchdowns. WR Caleb Mckinney received two touchdowns and finished with three receptions for 112 yards. WR Jaysen Price caught one touchdown from Dale and finished with 83 yards on four receptions.Â
RB Ernest Ceasar and Dale were the only two with rushing touchdowns, finishing with 100 yards on 14 attempts.Â
DL Kobe Adams, DB Jamarrion "Jay Reed," and LB Jose Bonilla led the defense in tackles with a total of 20 tackles and a combined 34-yards for loss with those tackles.Â
FS Elijah Hall and DB Vondrice LaFrance recorded the only interceptions for the defense.Â
WR Alize Thomas recorded a blocked punt and a returned block punt from S Kareem Walker.Â
The Rams offense finished with 440 yards, including 34 rushes for 141 yards and 299 passing yards on14-25, while the defense allowed 266 yards. Â
The Rams, now 3-1 in the SAC, will play Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) (1-2) in Fort Worth, Texas, at Farrington Field on Saturday, Oct. 8th. Â
