Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

MSOC: Rams continue win streak over SAGU

On Saturday, the Texas Wesleyan Men's Soccer team was hosted by the Southwestern Assembly of God University Lions at Life High School. Previous matchups have been successful for the Rams over the Lions, losing to them once in the past 12 years. Going into this matchup, SAGU was (2-11-0, 0-4-0 SAC) while the Rams held a (9-4-0, 2-3-0 SAC SAC) record. 

TXWES started fast, scoring their first goal within five minutes of the start of the game. Freshman Oscar Odriozola made the opening goal. During the first half, the Lions scored two shots on goal, with both saved by freshman goalie Jim Van Dijk. The Rams finished the first period strong with another goal from senior James Kerr around the 39-minute mark.  

In the second half, the Rams had Van Dijk, Jonathan Lopez,  Chihiro Ichimura, Gaku Nemoto, Mario Herrera, Daniel Guiterrez, Mathis Gouffroy, Odriozola, Carlos Rodriguez,  Daniel Jimenez, and Peter Tenorio on the field. Both teams shot poorly, but the Rams finished with seven saves shutting out the Lions and winning the match 2-0. 

The Texas Wesleyan Men's Soccer team will play their next home game at Martin Field on Thursday, October 20, at 7 pm against Oklahoma Panhandle State University.
