FB: Rams look to rebound after loss last week

A Sooner Athletic Conference matchup between the Texas College Steers (1-6, 1-5 SAC) and the Texas Wesleyan Rams (6-2, 5-2 SAC) on Saturday, October 27 in Tyler, TX,  at All Saints Mew-Bourne Field. Texas Wesleyan is ranked second in the conference, while Texas College is ninth in the standings.

The last time these two teams squared off, Texas Wesleyan won the matchup 69-18 at Farrington Field in Ft. Worth, Texas. The Rams hold a winning record of three wins to one loss versus the Steers. An interesting fact is that Ram's one loss against Texas College dates to 2017, and it was in Tyler, TX. Wesleyans' three wins were all in Ft. Worth.

The Rams are coming off a heartbreaking loss that likely ruined their conference championship, and playoff hopes to Louisiana Christian University (4-4, 3-3 SAC) 33-9 in Pineville, LA. The Steers are coming off a one-sided loss to Arizona Christian University (5-2, 4-2 SAC) 81-19 in Tyler, TX. Both teams could not get anything going last weekend in all three game phases.

The Steers know how to get it done through the air, averaging 270.3 passing yards a game. Their rushing attack needs work, as they average 12.7 yards a run. Texas College's defense, on the other hand, has not been its strongest suit. They give up, on average, 430.4 yards of total offense, 204.4 rushing, 226.0 passing, and 53.6 points a game.

Scoring is usually not a problem for the Texas Wesleyan offense. Despite last week's numbers, the Rams are averaging 41.5 points, 417.8 yards of total offense, 226.6 rushing, and 191.1 passing yards. Defensively speaking, running and scoring on the Rams has been challenging. They allow 75.5 rushing, 206.1 passing, 281.6 total offense, and 15.6 points per game.
