FB: Rams look to close out season against Lyon

A Sooner Athletic Conference match-up between the Texas Wesleyan Rams (8-2, 6-2 SAC) and the Lyon College Scots (1-8, 0-8 SAC) is set to kick off November 12th at 2 pm in Ft. Worth, TX at Farrington Field. The contest will be the last home game of the season for the Rams, and it will also be Senior Night to honor a historical senior class.

The series between the Scots and the Rams are tied at two games apiece. Last season, Texas Wesleyan dominated, winning 48-13 in Batesville, AR.

The Rams are also in an excellent position to win the conference with a win Saturday. Right now, there is a three-way tie for first between Texas Wesleyan, Arizona Christian University, and Ottawa University Arizona. Texas Wesleyan is in good hopes for a playoff bid as well.

Lyon's offense is a balanced effort, but as the record shows, they seem like they could be more efficient. On the season, the Scots have rushed for 1008 total yards and have thrown for 1031 total yards. The Scots total net yards are 1698 and average 12 points per game. Lyon's defense has been struggling this season as well. The Scots have given up 4637 yards of total offense, 2035 on the ground and 2602 through the air. The opponents average 40 points a game against Lyon as well.
Texas Wesleyans offense has been a dominant force on the ground with 2357 total rushing yards.

The Rams also found a spark in their passing game in the last match versus North American University. Texas Wesleyan has a total of 1900 yards through the air. The rams are also averaging 43 points per game. The Ram's defense has been stout all year, with an average of 14 points given up per game. Their run defense has been exceptional, with 722 yards given up on the ground. Opponents have had some success through the air, with a total of 1987 yards.
