MCPHERSON, Kan. – The Texas Wesleyan women's basketball (21-5, 15-5 SAC) topped Central Christian (1-26, 0-20 SAC) 102-59 on Tuesday.
It was a relatively close game to start as the Tigers evened the score at 33 apiece midway through the second quarter, but TXWES pulled away toward the end of the first half and never looked back on the way to a 43-point victory on the road.
The Lady Rams shot 55 percent from the floor in the second half, compared to the 24.5 percent effort from Central Christian. TXWES was also +21 in rebounding and recorded 12 more steals than the Tigers.
For the game, TXWES shot 48.8 percent and had 38 bench points.
The Lady Rams eclipse 100 points in a single game for the first time since Jan. 3, 2017 in a 104-68 win over Crowley's Ridge College.
Seven TXWES players scored in double digits in the blowout win, led by
Zarria Carter's 20-point effort.
Hailey Walls recorded a double double with 10 points and 11 boards, while tacking on four steals.
With two regular season game remaining on the schedule, the Lady Rams sit squarely in the third spot in the SAC standings. If the team stays in the third spot, they will host a quarterfinal game in the SAC tournament. The Sooner Athletic Conference recently announced the expansion of the conference tournament from eight teams to all 12 members. Seeds 5-8 will host seeds 9-12 in a play-in game on Feb. 22 before seeds 1-4 host the winners of the play-in games on Feb. 24.
The Lady Rams host Oklahoma City on Thursday, Feb. 17. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m.
