Box Score The Texas Wesleyan men's basketball team (19-10, 12-9 SAC) lost against Oklahoma City University (15-13, 14-7 SAC) 83-77 on Thursday evening at the Sid Richardson Center.
The Rams started the game off on a 5-0 run as
Lamine Komara made a layup and
Peyton Sallee followed up with a three-pointer that electrified the crowd. After the Stars went on a 6-0 run of their own,
Lamine Komara capped off a dunk to give TXWES a 7-6 lead.
The Rams tied the game at 34 after
Davon Berry made both free-throws. In the first half, TXWES did not back down and went into the half-time break trailing 40-34.
The Rams started the second half on a 17-3 run capped off by a made layup by
Lamine Komara. After a made layup by
Bryce Harris TXWES led 55-51 with 12:44 left in the game. OCU held a 58-57 lead with 10:37 left in the game. Both teams traded baskets back and forth down the stretch of the game. After a made free-throw by
Davon Berry the Rams trailed 68-64 with 6:21 left in the game.
With 2:34 left in the game, TXWES trailed by three points after a made layup by
Vydal Bradford. The Rams were not able to overcome the deficit as the Stars won 83-77.
TXWES shot 34 of 67 (50.7 percent) from the field and 4 of 10 (40 percent) from the three-point line. The Rams ran the court well, scoring 21 points off turnovers. TXWES snagged 32 rebounds, recorded 12 assists, and 5 steals. The Rams also dominated the low post with 52 points in the paint.
