Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

VB: Rams Roll over Wildcats

Texas Wesleyan used strong frontline play, including a stifling block, to defeat Wiley College for the second time in SAC play 25-2, 25-19, 25-13.

The Rams move to 7-0 in SAC and 12-2 overall, while Wiley falls to 3-9.

Kendal King led the charge for the Rams with 12 kills, while Sydney Charlton logged 11 and Lauran Richards had 10. Ruby O'Brien once again led the Rams in assists with 24 and had 12 digs for the evening as well as two service aces. The Rams totaled 11 points in service aces for the three sets with Skylar Warde and Emily Lewis providing three each. But it was the dominance from the net that Wiley couldn't handle as the Rams had 44 kills to Wiley's 17.

In the first set alone, the Rams came out swinging as Lauran Richards started a 12-0 run for the Rams with the first kill of the game on an assist from O'Brien. What followed was a barrage of kills from Charlton, Carly Unruh and Richards along with some service aces before Wiley called a timeout with the Rams leading 12-0. The Wildcats got little traction from their timeout, and Texas Wesleyan's attackers kept up the pace as King got into the groove with four of her 12 kills coming in the last part of the first set.

The second set saw Wiley make some adjustments to Texas Wesleyan's attacks with five blocks of Rams' attackers, while Texas Wesleyan committed eight attack errors and two ball handling errors. But the Rams were able to hold on for a 25-19 win.

In the third set, the Rams came back in strong attack mode. Wiley and Texas Wesleyan were almost even in attack attempts, but it was Texas Wesleyan's hitting percentage that told the tale. With 12 kills to 7 for Wiley and three service aces, the Rams got back on track and won 25-13.

The Rams go back on the road for Friday and Saturday games in Oklahoma, facing Oklahoma City University on Friday at 7 p.m. and Southwestern Christian University on Saturday at 1 p.m. The Rams beat both teams last year.

Texas Wesleyan sits atop the Sooner Athletic Conference at 7-0, having swept all of their opponents in SAC thus far. Southwestern Assemblies of God University is also undefeated in SAC with a 14-0 record overall and 6-0 in SAC. The Rams are 12-2 overall and 7-0 in conference.
