MSOC: Rams Fall to Drovers on the Road

Chickasha, OK - On Sunday, Science and Arts (USAO) managed to secure a 2-1 victory over Texas Wesleyan (TXWES).  

The Rams entered with a season record of 5-7-3, including a conference play record of 1-4-1. Their opponents, the Drovers, brought a slightly better record of 6-7-3, with a conference play record of 2-4-1.

The scoring action kicked off early in the match, with USAO seizing the lead just 23 seconds into the game. Matija Malenovic, in excellent form, netted his eighth goal of the season, giving USAO an early advantage.

However, TXWES showed resilience and determination in the second half. Mathis Guffroy found the back of the net in the 50th minute, beautifully assisted by Levin Brunner and Luca Hoff, leveling the score.

The decisive moment arrived in the 76th minute when Stijn Iding, supported by Justin Croke, scored for USAO, securing their lead and ultimately the victory.

The match also saw its fair share of cautions and ejections. TXWES players Osvaldo Lopez and Diogo Stefane were issued yellow cards in the 30th and 33rd minutes, respectively. USAO's Harry Yorke received a yellow card in the 60th minute, followed by another yellow card for Texas Wesleyan's Kazato Saito in the 81st minute. Mihajlo Blazic of Science and Arts also received a yellow card in the 81st minute.

Statistically, TXWES had a total of 16 shots, with six of them on goal. They also earned four corner kicks during the match. In contrast, USAO registered 11 shots, with five on target, and secured four corner kicks. Both teams displayed solid defensive efforts, with each saving one goal.

The match was not without its physicality, as it witnessed a total of 36 fouls, with Texas Wesleyan committing 19 and Science and Arts 17.

The Rams will return to play at Martin Field on Thursday against John Martin University, with the match scheduled to start at 3:30 p.m.
