WSOC: Texas Wesleyan University Women's Soccer Team Falls to Science and Arts in High-Scoring Match

On Saturday, the Texas Wesleyan Lady Rams, with a season record of 6-7-1, including a conference play record of 3-4. 

TXWES faced a formidable adversary in Science and Arts, a squad with an impressive season record of 10-5 and a dominant conference play record of 5-2.  

From the first whistle, the game was marked by intense action and a flurry of goals.

At 29:41, USAO seized the initiative with a goal by Alicia Rey, brilliantly assisted by Avery Walker. The crowd roared with excitement as Science and Arts took an early lead.

The momentum continued for USAO at 35:45 when Avery Walker notched her second goal of the season, thanks to a seamless assist from Ilse de Jong and Alicia Rey.  

In the 49th minute, Kylie Strotman extended Science and Arts' lead with another goal, cementing their control over the match.

Just two minutes later, at 51:39, Dagbjort Gudmunsdott added to Science and Arts' lead, with Alicia Rey providing the crucial assist.

At 68:42, Science and Arts' Paris Nance made her mark, finding the back of the net with assists from Alicia Rey and Paris Nance herself.

The Lady Rams showcased their unwavering spirit at 70:19 when Gracie Spradley netted a goal.

As the clock ticked away, USAO continued to dominate. At 85:58, Katie O'Keefe scored, with an assist from Daniela Salinas, adding to their commanding lead.

The final note of the match was written by Science and Arts' Maddie Woods at 87:51, courtesy of an assist from Marissa Neil.  

Remarkably, this high-scoring match witnessed no cautions or ejections, a testament to the sportsmanship displayed by both teams.

Statistically, Texas Wesleyan managed a total of eight shots, five of which were on target, and earned a single corner kick. Meanwhile, Science and Arts showcased a dominant offensive performance, recording 29 shots, with 18 on goal and six corner kicks.

Texas Wesleyan's goalkeeper made six saves, while Science and Arts' shot-stopper made two crucial saves.

A total of 10 fouls were committed during the match, with Texas Wesleyan accounting for five and Science and Arts for 12.

TXWES resilience shone through when Gracie Spradley scored, but ultimately, USAO emerged victorious with a final score of 7-1.

The Lady Rams will return to play at Martin Field on Thursday against #20 John Martin University, with the match scheduled to start at 5 p.m.
