Rams Secure Share of Conference Title

On Saturday, Texas Wesleyan University played Louisiana Christian in the regular season's final game, falling to LCU 34-24.

The first quarter set the tone for the game when Louisiana
Christian's Devin Briscoe made an explosive 49-yard run, quickly followed by Levi Hilborn's successful kick, giving the team an early 7-0 lead.

However, Texas Wesleyan responded in the second quarter. Carson Rodgers orchestrated a 1-yard run and connected with Ernest Ceasar for a spectacular 56-yard pass, contributing to a 17-7 lead for Texas Wesleyan at halftime. Gerrit Blodgett added to the score with a 54-yard field goal right before the end of the second quarter.

The third quarter saw Mason Ingram of Louisiana Christian making a crucial 26-yard field goal, narrowing the gap to 17-10.

Nevertheless, Texas Wesleyan's Michael Banks extended their lead with a 28-yard pass from Carson Rodgers. The game continued to intensify in the fourth quarter.

In a dramatic turn of events, Louisiana Christian's Nate Sullivan blocked a punt and returned it 40 yards, swinging the momentum back in favor of Louisiana Christian. Devin Briscoe's 11-yard run, coupled with Hunter
Martenss' kick leveled the score at 24-24 with 9:17 remaining.

As the clock ticked down, Louisiana Christian showcased their resilience with a 70-yard pass from Sal Palermo III to Sammy Feaster, securing a 31-24 lead. Jacob Weaver nailed a 40-yard field goal to seal the victory, bringing the final score to 34-24.

The loss gave the Sooner Athletic Conference automatic bid to the NAIA playoffs to Louisiana Christian while giving the Rams a share of the conference title for the second straight season.

The Rams will have to wait and see if they are selected for an at-large bid to the playoffs, with the selection show scheduled to start at 5 p.m. on Sunday.
