WBB: Rams Drop Contest at Loyola

Box Score New Orleans, LA –Texas Wesleyan women's basketball was defeated by the 15th ranked Loyola Wolf Pack Tuesday, 90-75 inside of the Den. 

The first half saw a lot of back-and-forth play with 10 lead changes and five ties throughout the first 20 minutes. Mary Nyakundi would give Texas Wesleyan its first lead, 12-10, with four minutes to go in the opening frame. Loyola would take a slight lead to extend their lead heading into the second.
 
The Rams would capture the lead again, but a pair of free throws from Loyola tied it in the early moments of the second quarter, 25-25. Texas Wesleyan, again, would take back the lead, their opponents would regain the lead once again after draining a a shot from beyond the arc. With three minutes until halftime Loyola would make it a five-point game at 40-35. The Rams would cut into the lead, but trailed heading into the locker room down six points, 46-40.
 
While the first half of the game went back and forth, Loyola led for the entire second half. Loyola would grab a quick six point in the first few minutes of the second half, 51-44. The Rams were able to pull within three, but The Wolf Pack continued to put up points and maintain a lead over the Rams.
 
Texas Wesleyan would do their best to stay with striking distance of the Wolf Pack as they would again cut into the deficit at 70-66, but back-to-back threes from Loyola would stall their momentum and their opponents were able to close out the game to cruise to a 90-75 victory.
 
Rikeyah Gant would finish with 17 points and seven rebounds, while teammate Mary Nyakundi would add 12 points of her own. Kamryn Gibson would also post double digit figures with 10 points in the loss.
 
Texas Wesleyan will then return to Fort Worth, TX to begin Conference play on, Nov. 30, with a game against University of North Texas at Dallas with a 6 P.M. tip-off.
