BB: Rams Fall to SAGU in Conference Opener

On Friday afternoon, a fierce baseball game between SAGU and Texas Wesleyan, with SAGU emerged victorious with a final score of 4-2.  


With this win, SAGU improved its record to 17-5, while Texas Wesleyan dropped to 15-7.


The game started slow, with both teams failing to score in the first three innings. 


In the fourth inning, SAGU's Avery Chatman hit a three-run homer, bringing in Nick Mosley and Alejandro Garcia, which gave SAGU a 3-0 lead.


 In the fifth inning, Garcia singled to left field, bringing in Timothy Compomizzi, which increased SAGU's lead to 4-0.


Texas Wesleyan finally managed to get on the scoreboard in the eighth inning when Logan Silvertooth hit a solo homer to right field, making the score 4-1. 


In the ninth inning, Brandon Rincones grounded into a double play, allowing Tomas Sanchez to advance to third base and Carson Cheany to score, bringing the final score to 4-2.


SAGU's defense was impeccable, with no errors committed during the game, helping them maintain their lead and secure their victory. 


On the other hand, Texas Wesleyan committed one error, which may have cost them the game.


SAGU's offense was led by Chatman, who had two hits and three RBIs, including his homer in the fourth inning. Garcia also had a good game, with two hits and one RBI. 


For Texas Wesleyan, the standout player was T. J. Tomlinson, who had three hits in four at-bats.


Michael Watson was the winning pitcher for SAGU, improving his record to 5-0, while Eugene Gay was the losing pitcher for Texas Wesleyan, dropping his record to 0-2.


The loss may be disappointing as a Texas Wesleyan fan, but there is still plenty of time left in the season to bounce back. 


It is important to focus on the areas of the game where the team struggled, such as committing errors and failing to score in the earlier innings.
