Box Score Sioux City, Iowa - No. 5 Texas Wesleyan fell 74-68 to No. 1 Central Methodist Women's Basketball in the round of 16 at the NAIA National Tournament Round of 16 Monday afternoon in Sioux City, Iowa.
The Lady Rams did their best to compete with the undefeated squad, but could not survive the third-period surge by the Lady Eagles' offense as they scored in the first six minutes of the third quarter, going on a 17-6 scoring run to push their lead to 49-34.
Despite the sudden lead change, the Lady Rams stayed resilient and in the closing minutes of the fourth quarter, they pulled within two points, but a clutch three down the stretch from senior guardDaryna Bachkarova a minute later extended the Lady Eagle's lead to 64-59.
The two teams continued to trade points in the closing minutes of the final quarter. With under a minute remaining, the Lady Eagles managed to hit another three-pointer and a pair of free throws the final score 74-68 in favor of Central Methodist.
Zarria Carter finished the game with 15 points, a 12-rebound double-double. Kertisa Amos finished with 16 points and Taryn Wills added 10 points.
