GAME 1:
In the first game Saturday, Texas Wesleyan emerged victorious over Southwestern Christian with a final score of 11-5. The game was played at Sycamore Park in Fort Worth, Texas, with Texas Wesleyan holding a record of 20-7, 4-4 SAC, while Southwestern Christian stood at 18-8, 4-1 SAC. The match was a nail-biter, with both teams putting in their best effort, but ultimately, it was Texas Wesleyan's superior performance that led to their win.
The Texas Wesleyan team displayed a great offensive game, racking up 14 hits, including a double and a home run. Kevin Santiago led the team with three hits and three RBIs, while
Jose Sosa also had a great game with two hits and an RBI. Their defense was equally impressive, allowing nine hits and committing only two errors.
On the other hand, Southwestern Christian's offensive game was marked by a homerun from Draike Sparks and Zane Bandfield, with Dario Paredes hitting a homerun down the left field line. Their defense, however, faltered, allowing two errors that resulted in two unearned runs for Texas Wesleyan.
Game 2
In the second game Saturday, the Texas Wesleyan baseball team won a close game against Southwestern Christian with a final score of 9-8. The game was a closely contested matchup, with both teams demonstrating solid offensive and defensive performances.
Southwestern Christian started the game strong, scoring two runs in the first inning with a double from Dario Paredes. Texas Wesleyan responded in the second inning with a double from
Brandon Rincones to tie the game at 2-2. In the third inning, Southwestern Christian regained the lead, scoring three runs with a sacrifice fly from Phoenix Nelson and an error by the catcher.
Texas Wesleyan fought back in the fourth inning with a two-run homer from Hayden Hutchens to make the score 5-4. Southwestern Christian extended their lead with two more runs in the sixth inning, but Texas Wesleyan rallied back, scoring five runs in the same inning with hits from
Logan Silvertooth, Grayson Barrett, and a wild pitch.
Defensively, both teams had solid performances, with Texas Wesleyan's pitcher,
Garrett Bodine, earning his second win of the season and D. Theriot getting his sixth save of the year. Texas Wesleyan had eight hits and two errors, while Southwestern Christian had seven hits and no errors.
The win improves their record to 21-7 overall and 5-1 in the SAC conference, continuing their impressive start to the season.
