Oklahoma City University Baseball team defeated Texas Wesleyan 6-2 in a game held on Saturday in Jim Wade Stadium in Oklahoma City.
Oklahoma City took the lead in the second inning when Trent Kiraly homered to left field, bringing the game's first score. In the fifth inning, Chad Pike homered to left field, and Felix Rondeau scored, bringing the score to 3-0 in favor of Oklahoma City. Texas Wesleyan responded in the sixth inning when Kevin Zamora homered to left center, scoring one run. However, Oklahoma City maintained their lead in the sixth inning when Barrett Daniel doubled to left field, and Trent Kiraly scored.
In the eighth inning, Felix Rondeau homered to right field, and C. Freeman scored, bringing the score to 6-1. Texas Wesleyan tried to come back in the ninth inning when
Brandon Rincones singled to right field, and
TJ Tomlinson advanced to second.
Hayden Hutchins also moved to third, and
JD Padgett scored, but the team couldn't overcome the deficit, and the game ended 6-2 in favor of Oklahoma City.
Despite the loss, Texas Wesleyan had some noteworthy performances. Zamora hit a home run, and Rincones singled to right field and brought in one run. However, more than Texas Wesleyan's offensive game was needed to overcome Oklahoma City's defense, and they could only secure two runs.
On the defensive side, Texas Wesleyan made one error, and Oklahoma City also made one. Texas Wesleyan had 11 strikeouts, while Oklahoma City had 6. Tyler Polk of Oklahoma City got the win, while
