SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- The Texas Wesleyan Volleyball completed play at the Alamo City Volleyesta inside of Mabee Gynamsium. The Lady Rams head a clean sweep of the day beating the Loyola University wolf pack (25-12, 25-13, 25-14) and took down tournament host Our Lady of The Lake University (22-25, 26-24,25-23 25-20).
The Rams dominated in a three-set win to Loyola in the first match on Saturday. The first set the rams set the tone early with a 25-12 victory . The Rams's offensive attack was on display in the set by posting a hitting percentage of .308. Much like the first set, the second and third saw the rams firing on all cylinders. They totaled 10 kills in the the final two sets to seal the sweep. Loyola would not hot higher than .029 in the loss.
The rams had eight service aces in the win with five solo blocks.
Kendal King led the way with 13 kills, hitting .407 in the match.
Ruby O'Brien posted 20 assists and
Makenna Gantt followed with 11 of her own. Gantt also had 11 kills on her own making this the first double-double performance of the season.
Andrea Malek finished the match with 26 digs.
The Rams ended the tournament with a competitive match against Our Lady of the Lake University. The saints won the first set with the rams hitting only .111 in the set . The second set was controlled by the Saints, but the Rams were determined to take set two. The Rams won five straight points to take the set 26-24 and even the match at 1-1. The final two sets were a battle as neither team refused to go quietly. With very little room for errors, The Rams would go on to win both sets to get the 3-1 match win.
The Rams had 49 kills in the win and 30 errors on 199 total attacks for a hitting percentage of .095.
Hannah Rubis totaled a team-high 14 kills for the Rams.
Ruby O'Brien tallied 24 assists for Texas Wesleyan.
Andrea Malek tallied a season high 35 digs for the Rams. While the Saints didn't record a service ace,
America Galvan led the charge with three.
The Rams are back on the road next weekend at they travel to compete in the Summer Slam Tournament in Fullerton, CA.
