FB: Rams Look to Rebound After Loss

FORT WORTH, TX - The Texas Wesleyan University Rams are set to hit the road this Saturday, heading to Little Rock, Arkansas, for a face-off against Arkansas Baptist College (ABC). The game is slated to kick off at 2:30 p.m.

In their previous outing, #23 St. Thomas University secured a decisive 38-20 victory over #13 Texas Wesleyan. Although TXWES initially took the lead with a 39-yard pass, St. Thomas University swiftly responded with a 61-yard run by Rontavious Far and a 33-yard touchdown pass, establishing a 14-7 lead after the first quarter. St. Thomas continued to dominate, finding the end zone with Ashton Davis and Rontavious Far. Despite Texas Wesleyan's field goals and a touchdown pass, they fell short, causing their record to dip to 3-1, while St. Thomas University improved to 2-2.

Last week, Arkansas Baptist College faced off against Oklahoma Panhandle State University (OPSU) on the road, marking their fourth consecutive loss this season. OPSU wasted no time in establishing dominance, with Brandon Stephens' 36-yard touchdown run setting the tone. The second quarter saw OPSU extend their lead to 14-0 with a 16-yard touchdown pass from Stephens to Draylon Roberson. Arkansas Baptist College mounted a comeback, narrowing the gap to 14-7 with Anton Clayton's 20-yard rushing touchdown. The third quarter witnessed a flurry of scoring from both teams, but OPSU maintained control with a touchdown and a field goal. In the fourth quarter, OPSU sealed the deal with another touchdown, securing the win despite a spirited effort from Arkansas Baptist.

This upcoming matchup between Texas Wesleyan University and Arkansas Baptist College will mark the first-ever meeting between the two schools. Arkansas Baptist College, a newcomer to the Sooner Athletic Conference scheduling, fills the void left by Lyon College at the end of the previous season.
