FB: Rams Travel to North American University on Saturday

Fort Worth, TX - The Texas Wesleyan Rams are scheduled to travel to Houston, Texas, Saturday for a matchup against North American University. The game is set to kick off at 7:00 PM at Stafford Multiple School District Stadium.

Last week, North American University hit the road to face Wayland Baptist University in Plainview, Texas. Unfortunately, they suffered a 50-14 defeat. North American started the game on a positive note, with Bryce Julian's 33-yard run and Cristobal Salga's successful kick giving them an early 7-0 lead. However, Wayland Baptist quickly turned the tide, with Tyvavion Russell's 1-yard run and Christian Smith's 15-yard reception from Bryan Ponder putting them ahead 14-7 by halftime.

The third quarter witnessed a back-and-forth exchange, highlighted by an 81-yard pass from Jesper Korkalai to Colbi Clark for North American. Nonetheless, Wayland Baptist's offense secured the victory with multiple touchdowns in the second half.

Looking ahead, the Rams aim to improve their ranking following a recent victory over #17 Ottawa University of Arizona. Texas Wesleyan took an early lead with AJ Bobb's 20-yard touchdown reception from Carson Rodgers in the first quarter, leading 7-0. Their momentum continued when Ernest Ceasar broke free for a 73-yard touchdown run in the second quarter, increasing their lead to 13-0. Ottawa University of Arizona responded with an 85-yard touchdown pass from Luke Giron to Da'Vicious Wils, narrowing the score to 13-7.

In the second quarter, Texas Wesleyan extended their lead with Bobb's second touchdown reception, making it 20-7. Gerrit Blodgett added a 31-yard field goal in the third quarter. Despite OUAZ's resilience, including Luke Giron's 5-yard rushing touchdown (23-14), Blodgett's 41-yard field goal maintained Texas Wesleyan's control.

The fourth quarter featured a 30-yard touchdown pass to Michael Banks, along with a 38-yard field goal by Blodgett. OUAZ managed to recover an 18-yard fumble for a late touchdown, resulting in a final score of 36-20 in favor of Texas Wesleyan.

The upcoming game will mark the second meeting between the two schools, with the previous encounter taking place in Fort Worth, Texas, on November 5, 2022. In that contest, the Rams emerged victorious with a commanding 61-7 win. The Rams demonstrated their dominance by scoring in all four quarters, while the Stallions only managed a single touchdown in the third quarter. Both teams recorded 65 snaps, but the Rams outperformed the Stallions in total offensive yards, amassing 485 yards compared to the Stallions' 183 yards.
