Box Score FORT WORTH, TX. – The Texas Wesleyan women's basketball team brought in the new year in a dominate performance the Sid Richardson Center to defeat Oklahoma Panhandle State University 75-52.
The rams opened the first half of game with strong a defensive play as they would hold the Aggies to just six points in quarter one. Leading 16-6 to the start the second quarter Texas Wesleyan would have an impressive showing from the three-point line as they would knock down five from behind arc with Savannah Smith going 3-3. The Rams continued to dominate the Aggies on offensive end as they would extend their lead over the Aggies heading into halftime with a 41-15 lead.
Texas Wesleyan would continue to build on their lead as Oklahoma Panhandle would do their best to keep up with the Rams.
Taryn Wills would lead all players in the quarter with six points as the Rams would score 22 points in the quarter to the Aggies 16.
In the fourth Oklahoma Panhandle would play their best quarter in the match and outscore the Rams. Much to the dismay of the Aggies Texas Wesleyan was able to close out the game with a late quarter push to end the match with a 75-52 victory.
Taryn Wills would finish the game with 22 points while
Savanna Smith was red hot from the three-point line scoring 12 of her 13 points from there.
Mary Nyakundi put on a solid performance as well adding nine points and four rebounds in the win.
Texas Wesleyan is back inside of the Sid Richardson Center Saturday, Jan.6 to face Wayland Baptist University for a 2 p.m. tip-off.
