FORT WORTH, TX - On Saturday, Texas Wesleyan lost in a hard-fought game to Wayland Baptist 69-62 in the Sid Richardson Center.
Kipplyn Richvine scored 17 points, showcasing efficiency with 4-8 field goals and 8-12 free throws.
Kris Lafayette contributed 15 points, displaying accuracy with 5-9 field goals and a perfect 5-6 from the free-throw line.
The Rams demonstrated consistency in both halves, shooting over 43% from the field overall.
Another noteworthy contribution came from the bench, generating 30 bench points.
The game witnessed five lead changes, with a tied score on two occasions. Texas Wesleyan won the battle of points off turnovers, accumulating 25 points.
Wayland Baptist also demonstrated their ability to generate turnovers, recording eight steals and forcing Texas Wesleyan into 20 turnovers. The Pioneers also excelled in rebounding, securing 35 rebounds compared to Texas Wesleyan's 24.
The Pioneers were led by Linton Brown, who contributed a game-high 27 points, showcasing his scoring ability inside and outside the paint.
D'Michael Bellfield also made an impact, adding 12 points and contributing on the defensive end with seven rebounds. Jaxon Recer, Rodney Carson Jr., and Brett Leach played crucial roles in orchestrating the offense, combining for 19 points.
The Ram's next two games will be played next week on the road. First, TXWES will travel to Langston University on Thursday for a scheduled 7:45 p.m. tip-off and again on the road Saturday at Central Christian, with a tip-off scheduled for 3:45 p.m.
