VB: Rams Secure Trip to Finals with 3-0 Victory

FORT WORTH, TX – Texas Wesleyan swept John Brown University 3-0, on Friday night in the SAC Conference Tournament semifinals at the Sid Richardson Center.

The Rams improved to 24-8 on the season, advancing to Saturday's championship match, while the Golden Eagles concluded their campaign at 17-15.

Texas Wesleyan's balanced attack and strong defensive presence gave them a 25-21, 25-15, 28-26 victory.

The opening set was closely contested as both teams traded points early. The Rams relied on timely kills and key blocks to edge out a 25-21 win despite a strong push by John Brown, who hit .146 in the frame. Sydney Alexander and Shelby Martin were instrumental in establishing Texas Wesleyan's offensive rhythm.

The Rams dominated the second set, surging ahead early behind standout serving from Ruby Rumohr, who notched multiple aces. Alexander and Makenna Gantt combined for critical kills, while defensive contributions from Emily Lewis and America Galvan stifled the Golden Eagles' attack. Texas Wesleyan limited John Brown to a negative hitting percentage (-.056) en route to a decisive 25-15 win.

The third set was a back-and-forth battle marked by clutch plays. Texas Wesleyan built an early lead with offensive contributions from Martin and Lyric Biggers, but John Brown rallied behind kills from Taylor Golmen and Ella Yarborough.

In a dramatic finish, the Rams secured the 28-26 victory with a kill from Martin and a costly ball-handling error by the Golden Eagles.

Alexander led Texas Wesleyan with six service aces and five blocks, while Lewis anchored the defense with 19 digs. Offensively, Grace Pavelka paced the Rams with nine kills, followed closely by Gantt and Biggers with seven each.

With the win, Texas Wesleyan advances to Saturday's final at 1 p.m., where they will face No. 1 seed Nelson University.

The Rams will also await their seeding in the NAIA National Tournament, with the selection show scheduled for Nov. 18 at noon.
