FB: TXWES vs Langston University Preview

FORT WORTH, TX – Texas Wesleyan University (8-0, 6-0 SAC) enters this weekend's matchup against Langston University (5-3, 4-2 SAC) with the chance to secure a share of the SAC Conference Championship for the third consecutive season. A victory would also confirm the Rams' spot in the NAIA National Championship, with the playoff selections set for November 17.

Texas Wesleyan continued its flawless season last week with an impressive 70-7 win over Texas College, demonstrating the team's offensive and defensive firepower. The Rams' quick start was led by Ernest Ceasar, who scored twice following key defensive plays. Quarterback Carson Rodgers connected twice with AJ Bobb, and a 23-yard interception return by defensive back Sir Hill pushed the Rams to a 42-0 lead by halftime. While Texas College managed to score in the third quarter, Texas Wesleyan maintained control as Ceasar added two more touchdowns. Backup quarterback Cole Francis also got in on the action, connecting with Paul Summers, and Tony Roberson sealed the game with a final touchdown run.

Langston, however, enters Saturday with the aim of disrupting Texas Wesleyan's perfect record. The Lions fell 42-32 to Ottawa University Arizona last week but showed resilience and offensive firepower. Langston quarterback Torrence Bardell threw for 328 yards and four touchdowns, connecting with receivers David Hall, Ivory Wilright, Levon Williams, and Kevin Allen.

Historically, Langston holds a 2-4 record against Texas Wesleyan. Although the Rams dominated the early years of this rivalry, including a 69-7 win in 2019, Langston has won the last two meetings, defeating Texas Wesleyan 53-28 in 2022 and 42-19 in 2023. With Langston's recent success in this series, they present a formidable challenge as the Rams seek to remain undefeated and lock in their championship position.

Kickoff is set for Saturday, and Texas Wesleyan will look to leverage its home-field advantage as they pursue another SAC title and a place in the national championship.
