Sterlington, LA - In game one of the Cajun Collision on Saturday Texas Wesleyan lost to Loyola 4-0.
Loyola's offense ignited in the second inning, with Jake Mills, Brandon Mooney, and Jed Cambre contributing to a three-run surge. In the seventh, Prescott Marsh added another run with a timely single.
The Rams managed to get three hits in the game off Loyola pitcher Brady Bownen, who went six scoreless innings, allowing only two hits with nine strikeouts, for the victory.
Leading the way for the Rams offensive were right fielder Rody Garcia, left fielder Chase Cos and center fielder Aiden Kenney, each with one hit in three appearances at the plate.
Loyola's pitcher B. Bowen (2-0) delivered six scoreless innings, allowing only two hits, and striking out nine.
TXWES pitcher Sutton Tidwell (1-1) took the loss for Texas Wesleyan, yielding two runs in 1.1 innings.
In game two Saturday at the Cajun Collision, TXWES (5-4) was able to secure a decisive 14-6 victory over the University of Mobile (0-4).
The Rams' offense was firing on all cylinders, particularly in the fourth inning when they posted an impressive six-run rally.
The scoring started in the first inning, with Texas Wesleyan's Ryan Flores contributing an RBI on a sacrifice fly. Mobile responded in the bottom of the first on a fielder's choice and Bowman's single, taking a 3-1 lead.
However, Texas Wesleyan quickly turned the tide in the second inning, highlighted by a home run from Chase Cos.
The third and fourth innings proved crucial for Texas Wesleyan as they extended their lead with hits from players like Garcia, Cos and Kenney. Mobile attempted a comeback in the fifth and seventh innings, but Texas Wesleyan's pitching and defense held firm.
Pitcher Dwain Guice (2-1) secured the win for Texas Wesleyan, while Mobile's Matthew Holston (0-1) suffered the loss.
Texas Wesleyan showcased offensive prowess with a total of 12 hits, securing their fifth win of the season, while Mobile fell to 0-5.
The Rams return home next weekend for the Texas Roundup, with a double header scheduled for Thursday against Wiley College and on Saturday against Ave Maria, with both sets of games scheduled for noon and 3 PM.
