FORT WORTH, TX- The Texas Wesleyan softball team split games in a DH matchup against Dallas Christian College on Tuesday afternoon. The Rams dominated game one with a 11-3 victory and fell short of a comeback losing 7-8 in game two.
Texas Wesleyan would jump out to a 2-0 lead int the bottom of the 1
st inning as
Kylie Barnes would hit a double sending
Alyssa Bates and
Devin Dunn home for the score. The Rams would keep this momentum as Barnes would score for the third time in the inning after
EB Zimmerman would fire off a double ball of her own.
The score now 3-0 heading into the 2
nd Inning,
Abbie Bird would step to the plate and deliver a homerun down center field to extend the lead again. The Rams would score four more runs in the inning to take a commanding 7-0 lead.
Not to be out done, Dallas Christian College would come storming backing with three runs of their own to cut into the lead. The Ram would lock in of defensive and close out the top of the 3
rd inning leading 7-3.
Looking to close out the game early,
Izzy Valenzuela would send a homer out of left field with two runners already on base to score, giving the Rams the 10-3 edge.
Now in the bottom of the 5
th, with just one score needed to end the game, with two runners on bases Bates would send hit an easy base hit to push
Haylie Delarosa home to end the game 11-3.

Game two had a much slower start for Texas Wesleyan as after 3 innings of play the score remained 0-0. The Rams would finally bust the game wide open with another Valenzuela homer that would send Barnes and Bates home to take the 3-0 lead over the Crusaders yet again. Dallas Christian was quick to answer as they would tie the game at the top of the 5
th. The Rams were not able to generate any offense during their next at bat and the Crusaders were able to capitalize off this by scoring a staggering five runs in the 6
th inning.
Trailing 8-3 the Rams would start the comeback after a
Jaelin Ornelas triple that would have three runner score. Down 8-6, the Texas Wesleyan would have one more opportunity to regain the lead. During the bottom of the 7
th inning, Valenzuela advanced to second on a passed ball that allowed Barnes to score. Despite battling back, Dallas Christian was able to hold on to their one-point lead and the Rams would close the day out with a tough 7-8 loss.

The Lady Rams return to action Friday for a doubleheader against Ottawa University at Sycamore Park. First pitch is at 1 P.M. and the second game will start 20 minutes after that.
