FORT WORTH, Texas – Sunday afternoon the Texas Wesleyan University took on Central Christian College in a doubleheader at Sycamore Park. The Rams opened the day with a thrilling 1-0 victory followed by a 2-1 win to sweep the day.
The first game of the day was a fantastic pitcher's duel, with neither team able to bring across a run until the bottom of the 7
th inning. With a chance to close the game out
EB Zimmerman would send a ball out to center field for the double play to get the Rams going. Alyssa bates would step to the plate and send a ball down center field to send Zimmerman home for the walk off single to take game one 1-0 over the Tigers.
Haylie Delarosa would put the Rams on the board in the bottom of the 1
st inning to take the early 1-0 lead in game two. At the top of the 2
nd inning Texas Wesleyan would find themselves in a tough spot with the bases loaded and just one out. After a pitching error the Tigers would send a runner home to tie the game up at 1-1. Another error from the Rams would send another runner home to give Central Christian their first lead of the day.
Now trailing 3-1 in the bottom of the 5
th inning Texas Wesleyan would have the bases loaded when
KK Moore would send a ball down left field to send
Haylie Delarosa and
Alyssa Bates in to tie the game up at 3-3. At the top of the 6
th inning the Rams would find themselves in another tough spot with the bases loaded.
Kylie Barnes was able to close the inning out behind some clutch pitching to keep the game all knotted up.
The bottom of the 7
th inning would find Texas Wesleyan in a similar situation as the first game with a chance for a walk off win.
Alyssa Bates would fire off a single down right field to get the Rams going. After Central Christian would walk
Haylie Delarosa,
Devin Dunn would advance the runners after a sacrifice bunt.
KK Moore would deliver the final blow via a bunt to send bates in for another walk off single from to win game two 4-3.
The Rams will face Central Christian College again tomorrow afternoon to close out the series. The first pitch for game one of the doubleheader on Mondays is scheduled for 12:00 PM.
