BB: Rams Win Rubber Match Against Drovers

FORT WORTH, TX - On Monday, Texas Wesleyan (16-11, SAC 6-3) clinched a narrow 13-11 victory over the University of Science and Arts (15-10, SAC 2-4) in a high-scoring affair.

The game started explosively, with both teams showcasing their power hitting early. Gage Ninness of USAO and Hoyden Hutchens of TXWES traded solo home runs in the first inning, setting the tone for the offensive showcase. Angel Polanco added to the Rams' lead with a homer of his own in the same inning.

The Drovers fought back in the third inning with Ben Bach's two-run blast, narrowing the gap to one run. However, Texas Wesleyan responded immediately, as Hutchens struck again with a two-run homer in the bottom of the third, followed by a Chase Cos RBI double.

The game took a dramatic turn in the fifth inning when the Rams exploded for seven runs, fueled by a series of hits and a passed ball that led to unearned runs. Despite the Drovers mounting a late-game rally with a six-run outburst in the seventh inning, highlighted by Peyton McDowall's second home run of the game.

Sutton Tidwell started on the mound for Texas Wesleyan and earned the win despite giving up four earned runs over 3.1 innings. Jorge Carvajal secured the save with a solid relief performance, holding off Science and Arts' late surge.

On the offensive side, Hutchens and Polanco led Texas Wesleyan with impressive performances, each contributing multiple hits and home runs.

The Rams will next travel to Oklahoma City with a series against Oklahoma City University on Friday and Saturday. Friday will be a doubleheader, with the first game scheduled for a 1 PM first pitch, and then Saturday for a 9-inning game, with the first pitch scheduled at 1 PM.
