FORT WORTH, TX – The Texas Wesleyan softball team split games on Senior Day against Southwestern Christian University at Sycamore Park on Saturday afternoon.
Two seniors were honored in their last home game of the regular season.
Marissa Reina and Krysta White both played an integral part to the softball in the last few seasons.
The Rams got the bats going in their final game of doubleheader as the Rams split the twin-bill, falling in the first game 6-3 before storming back to game two 6-0.
The first contest of the day would see SCU take the early 2-0 lead at the top of the 1
st inning, while
KK Moore would get the Rams on the board at the bottom of the 3
rd inning by scoring a run. SCU would keep their momentum as they went on to score a pair of runs in the next inning.
Kylie Barnes would score in bottom of the 4
th inning to keep the Rams withing striking distance at 2-4. The Eagles would continue to put the pressure on Texas Wesleyan by sending a ball right out of the ballpark to go up 3-6 at the top of the 7
th inning. The Rams would do their best to battle back in the final inning, but SCU would maintain its lead and close out game of the series with a 6-3 victory.
In the final game the Rams would have the bases loaded early as
Abbie Bird would hit a line drive shot to send
Alyssa Bates in for the score.
EB Zimmerman would send a ball sailing to the back wall to send another runner in for the Texas Wesleyan to go up 2-0. The Rams would continue to have an impressive offensive showing as they would go on to finish the inning up 4-0 over SCU. The Eagles struggles to find any offense in this contest as the Rams played stellar defense to hold their opponents to a goose egg as the game went on. Texas Wesleyan went on to score in bottom of the 2
nd inning and would close out the game on another
Kylie Barnes homer during the bottom of the 6
th inning to take a commanding 6-0 lead over the Eagles. The Rams would hang on to their lead and close out the series with a win over SCU.
The Rams will close out the season on the road starting with a series at current SAC leaders Oklahoma City. First pitch is set for 5 P.M. start.
